Metallus (NYSE: MTUS) has received a single-award, firm-fixed-price Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract from the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the logistics agency for the Department of War, to supply steel for critical defense applications. The five-year ordering period has a maximum ceiling of $995 million, although that amount is not a commitment by the DLA to purchase the full value. Metallus received an initial delivery order worth approximately $125 million on September 29, 2026, and has up to 24 months to fulfill each order. The contract allows the DLA to buy material through delivery orders issued during the contract term. Metallus said the award supports its defense-market expansion and production of specialty steel meeting performance, quality and traceability requirements, while the company intends to continue investing in operations and capabilities as demand for domestically sourced specialty steel grows. Based in Canton, Ohio, Metallus manufactures specialty metals from recycled scrap for industrial, automotive, aerospace and defense, and energy markets. It employs approximately 1,850 people and reported 2025 sales of $1.2 billion.
