Stellantis (STLAM.MI) will suspend production for five to 15 days in October at four French factories, citing industrial constraints including insufficient batteries for long-range electric vehicles and the need to align output with market demand. Sochaux will close from October 23 to 30, Rennes from October 22 to 30, and Mulhouse from October 15 to 30. Poissy will stop production from October 19 to 23 as part of inventory management. Stellantis said demand for vehicles built at Sochaux, particularly among business customers, has exceeded its ability to secure parts. Mulhouse is due to receive 400 million euros from a one-billion-euro French investment package announced in June and is scheduled to assemble three new models from 2029. The CGT union criticized the use of short-time working and called for retaining agency workers, slowing production lines, improving working conditions and training employees. Stellantis previously said electric-vehicle production at Poissy would end by 2028, with the site shifting toward parts production and recycling, and vehicle preparation and conversion.
