Gemini has launched a Politics Hub with real-time updates covering the full slate of 2026 US midterm races, including Senate, House and gubernatorial contests. The initiative expands Gemini Predictions, which began in December 2025 after the exchange obtained a CFTC (U.S. derivatives regulator) Designated Contract Market license allowing it to offer real-money contracts on event outcomes within a legally sanctioned framework. The hub places Gemini in direct competition with Polymarket and Kalshi, which are also expanding election-related prediction markets ahead of November. Gemini’s platform already covered midterms, congressional races, presidential contests and local politics, and has hosted markets including whether crypto market structure legislation will become law, with trading volumes reaching tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Midterm prediction markets have historically received less attention than presidential markets, although the 2024 cycle brought political trading wider mainstream interest. The outcome of the 2026 elections will shape Congress and statehouses, with potential consequences for crypto regulation, tax policy and other digital-asset issues. Markets tied to legislative outcomes provide a real-time measure of trader sentiment that traditional polling does not replicate. Polymarket has expanded its own midterm coverage after gaining prominence during the 2024 presidential cycle, while Kalshi has launched dedicated 2026 race hubs and real-time results. Polymarket operates in a regulatory gray zone for US users after previously settling with the CFTC and restricting American access. Kalshi holds its own CFTC designation and has pursued public legal battles over the scope of contracts it can list. Separately, Google’s Gemini AI, which has no affiliation with the crypto exchange, is integrating official voting data for the 2026 cycle, including polling locations, registration deadlines and real-time Associated Press results.
