DeFi Development Corp said on September 28 that it added approximately 47,706 SOL and SOL equivalents to its treasury since September 21, lifting total holdings to roughly 2,538,010 tokens. The company valued the position at about $309 million, representing around 2% growth in one week. Holdings have increased by more than 226,000 SOL and equivalents, or approximately 10%, since the company’s August 12 earnings update. DeFi Development Corp describes the strategy as accumulating and compounding Solana rather than holding the assets idle, including through staking (locking crypto to earn rewards) and other strategies designed to generate additional SOL-denominated returns. The approach reflects the emergence of Solana treasury companies alongside the established model of public companies raising capital to acquire digital assets. Because SOL is a proof-of-stake asset, treasury returns can be influenced by staking, validator performance, token-price volatility and corporate financing. DeFi Development Corp has also developed preferred-stock products linked to the strategy, including its CHAD security, which carries a 13% annual dividend rate. The company says it intends to continue accumulating, while investor outcomes will depend on financing, asset returns and how its securities trade relative to the treasury’s value.
