Kaiser Permanente will lay off 147 business and administrative employees across California in November, affecting 16 locations in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside and Alameda counties. The largest reductions involve 72 positions at a San Diego office and 20 at an administrative office in Pasadena. Kaiser said the jobs do not involve direct patient care and that the cuts will not affect the quality of care or service provided to members and patients. The Oakland-based nonprofit said it is helping affected employees pursue other opportunities within Kaiser and, where appropriate, offering severance, career support and outplacement services. Kaiser employs about 180,000 people in California.
