Eli Lilly's experimental EloraTZP combination delivered significantly greater weight loss than Zepbound, or tirzepatide, alone in a 48-week Phase 2b trial involving 367 people with obesity and type 2 diabetes. The highest tested dose, combining 9 milligrams of eloralintide with 15 milligrams of tirzepatide, reduced weight by 23.3%, or 54.1 pounds, compared with 14.8%, or 34.4 pounds, for tirzepatide alone. A1C reductions reached 2.9% with the combination, versus 2.4% for tirzepatide alone, although gastrointestinal side effects produced higher discontinuation rates. Lilly plans to begin Phase 3 trials of EloraTZP in the fourth quarter of 2026. The results add to Lilly's broader metabolic-medicine pipeline. In the Phase 3 TRIUMPH-2 study, patients with type 2 diabetes receiving 12 milligrams of investigational retatrutide lost an average of 49.6 pounds, or 20.8%, over 80 weeks. Retatrutide also reduced A1C by as much as 1.6%, with up to 40% of participants reaching an A1C below 5.7%; Lilly plans to submit a Biologics License Application in the first quarter of 2027. In the Phase 3b ADtouch trial, EBGLYSS monotherapy helped more than half of adolescents and adults with moderate-to-severe hand and foot atopic dermatitis achieve clear or nearly clear skin by Week 16.
