A Bitcoin whale moved 20.43 BTC on Sept. 29 from a wallet dormant since May 2011, with the holdings worth about $1.7 million near a Bitcoin price of $83,000. Arkham data shows the address received 429.88 BTC across 43 payments between February and May 2011 from an entity labeled Braiins Mining, formerly known as Slush Pool, suggesting the wallet belonged to an early miner rather than an exchange buyer. The two transferred outputs, totaling 10.1 BTC and 10.33 BTC, had remained untouched for more than 15 years and were split into smaller amounts sent to modern SegWit addresses. The transactions cost 300 and 726 satoshis in fees, and none of the coins had reached a known exchange deposit address. The wallet had previously sent bitcoin to addresses linked to Mt. Gox and Silk Road. The movement occurred about a month before Mt. Gox’s Oct. 31, 2026 creditor repayment deadline; the trustee still controls about 34,504 BTC after moving 10,422 BTC in June. Galaxy Research had previously estimated historical bases of roughly $3 and $4 for the two batches and gains exceeding 2 million%.
