The U.S. and Chinese governments unveiled tariff cuts covering $60 billion in goods under a 30-30 framework, with $30 billion from each country affected. The White House list covers 77 categories of Chinese imports, including Christmas decorations, fireworks and children’s toys; toys account for approximately $9.8 billion and are the largest category identified for relief. The Toy Association said toys were designated non-sensitive goods eligible for preferential treatment, but final rates remain unconfirmed. China’s list covers 1,619 categories of U.S. products, mainly agricultural goods, while microchips, electronics and semiconductors remain outside the agreement. Chinese officials indicated that more than 90% of covered products could return to most-favored nation (MFN) rates, or standard tariff treatment.
