KKR has signed agreements to sell Central Terminal Korea (CTK) in South Korea to Bain Capital and Central Tank Terminal (CTT) in Japan to Integral. The global private equity firm announced the transactions on the 30th after shifting from a planned package sale to separate deals. Nomura Financial Investment served as lead manager during the sale process in the first half of this year. CTT operates 12 chemical and energy storage and handling terminals in major Japanese industrial regions and was acquired from Macquarie Group in 2021. KKR expanded into South Korea by acquiring CTK, formerly Taeyoung Industries, in 2023. Transaction values were not disclosed, although KKR is estimated to have generated returns exceeding 500 billion Korean won, including more than 200 billion won from CTK alone. MBK Partners reportedly joined the final bidding while pursuing a package acquisition. CTK operates a tank terminal in Ulsan and recorded 45.2 billion Korean won in sales and 14.9 billion won in operating profit last year. CTK CEO Kim Chan-soo said the company strengthened its growth plans, sales and operational capabilities under KKR and expects continued growth.
