Taiwan’s TAIEX rose 308 points, or 0.7%, to close at 47,940 on Wednesday, ending two sessions of losses after reaching a record intraday high of 48,380. Gains were led by electronic-technology shares following an advance in the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index. TSMC rose 1.0%, while MediaTek and Delta Electronics gained 1.2% and 4.4%, respectively. A weak Wall Street session and surging US Treasury yields restrained the advance as traders awaited the US PCE Index for clues about the Federal Reserve’s next policy decision. The index rose 3.9% for the quarter amid optimism over artificial-intelligence investment.
