Jusung Engineering’s market capitalization surpassed 11 trillion Korean won during early trading on the 1st, briefly overtaking EcoPro to become the KOSDAQ’s second-largest company. The stock traded at 237,500 won as of 9:48 a.m., up 5,000 won, or 2.15%, from the previous session, while EcoPro later advanced and renewed the competition for second place. Jusung Engineering’s market-cap ranking has climbed from 57th at the start of the year to third the previous day and second intraday on the 1st, with its market value increasing more than sevenfold. Its share price rose from 30,450 won at the beginning of the year to 232,500 won at the previous close, a 663.5% gain. Semiconductor materials, parts and equipment companies have increasingly dominated the KOSDAQ’s largest market-cap rankings as expectations for stronger industry conditions and higher capital spending by Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix support the sector. Shinhan Securities said consensus estimates for this year’s capital expenditure at Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix had risen 34% and 51%, respectively, from the beginning of the year. Analysts at Shinhan Securities and Hana Securities said domestic front-end and back-end equipment makers remain supported by memory-industry investment, provided there is no sharp deterioration in memory profits.
