Australia’s Securities and Investments Commission will bring digital asset platforms and tokenized custody platforms into the financial services licensing framework from April 9, 2027. Parliament passed the related bill in April. ASIC plans to seek feedback on draft operational standards and guidance in the fourth quarter of this year, publish final guidelines in the first quarter of 2027, and begin accepting license applications in April 2027. The regime will set requirements for custody, trading, settlement, financial resources and market-integrity management.
