Robinhood plans to offer crypto perpetual futures (contracts without expiration) to eligible US clients, giving Bitcoin and Ethereum traders leverage of up to 10x. Solana, Ripple, Dogecoin, Cardano, Chainlink and Hype contracts will have maximum leverage of 3x. The products will be provided by Robinhood Derivatives, a CFTC (U.S. derivatives regulator)-registered futures commission merchant and NFA member, with Bitstamp supplying contract services. Robinhood will charge 0.01% per trade through the end of 2026. Customers will be able to trade in the app, monitor stop-loss and take-profit levels, view real-time margin-call prices and receive notifications about approaching margin calls. CEO Vlad Tenev said gains and losses will be updated every 15 minutes. Robinhood said perpetual futures were rolling out for US traders on September 29, 2026, but the company has not set a release date for its futures offering. The launch follows CFTC action that expanded opportunities for US issuers of perpetual-futures products, including authorization of KalshiEX’s Bitcoin-linked BTCPERP product in May and additional regulatory guidance. Bitstamp, acquired by Robinhood for $200 million in June 2025, previously supported Robinhood’s international derivatives expansion and offered perpetual contracts to European customers with leverage of up to 3x. Robinhood is also planning weekend trading for some US stocks and ETFs in early 2027, subject to regulatory approval, while expanding extended-hours trading, margin buying power and AI-assisted trading through Robinhood Agents.
