South Korea's Hanwha Life agreed to acquire management control of Acuon Capital for 440 billion Korean won, or about $326 million, through a joint investment with Centroid Investment Partners. Hanwha Life will buy 17,511,066 shares from EQT for a 50.54% stake, while a Centroid private equity fund will acquire the remaining 17,113,087 shares. Subject to financial-authority approval, Acuon Capital will become a Hanwha Life subsidiary and its wholly owned Acuon Savings Bank will become a sub-subsidiary, expanding the insurer into specialized credit finance and savings banking. Separately, Hanwha Investment & Securities is advancing a capital raise of up to 900 billion won, approximately $662.0 million, comprising a 500 billion won third-party allotment and up to 400 billion won of privately placed perpetual hybrid bonds. The brokerage plans to strengthen its financial base, expand asset-management and investment capacity, pursue designation as a Comprehensive Financial Investment Business Entity by meeting the 3 trillion won equity-capital threshold, and develop digital-asset capabilities through potential platform, blockchain-infrastructure and global-company partnerships.
