Starbucks closed about 250 locations in the United States and Canada last week, representing roughly 1% of its more than 18,000 North American coffeehouses. Chief Operating Officer Mike Grams said most stores are thriving under the Back to Starbucks strategy, implemented by CEO Brian Niccol in 2024, while some underperforming locations were closed. Grams said the company wants each coffeehouse to be valued by customers and employees. Starbucks has not released a complete closure list, directing customers to store signage, its locator and its mobile app. USA TODAY compiled a list by cross-checking locations identified by starbuckseverywhere.net against Starbucks' locator, Google and Yelp, while noting four locations it could not verify. The closures follow a 2025 restructuring that produced the net closure of 107 North American locations. Starbucks said affected employees would be offered transfers where possible, with severance for those who could not be placed elsewhere.
