Worldcoin (WLD) rose 9.7% on Wednesday, extending a rally that lifted the identity-verification token 44% over the past month and to $0.58 over the weekend, its highest level since late June. WLD was the third-best-performing cryptocurrency over the previous 24 hours, trading at $0.5373 at 11:45 p.m. EDT, while Bitcoin and Ethereum each gained 0.60%. World Network launched in 2023 to distinguish real people from AI bots by collecting biometric data, including iris scans, through its proprietary Orb device. Tools For Humanity, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, is the project's primary developer. The latest advance coincided with the Trump administration's push for rapid AI adoption, including the White House Accord on Super Intelligence and the rebranding of AI as "Super Intelligence." Growing interest in AI agents, including Robinhood Markets Inc.'s efforts in the sector, may also have supported WLD. Its proof-of-humanity model positions World as potential infrastructure for establishing trust around autonomous AI systems. Eligible users historically received WLD through the project's airdrop program, although new airdrop cycles stopped being created or renewed in June 2026. WLD remains down nearly 60% over the past year, while Eightco Holdings Inc., the world's largest publicly disclosed institutional holder of WLD, gained nearly 47% over the past month and traded 0.85% higher at $1.19 in Wednesday's premarket session.
