Hong Moon-pyo, president of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), was dismissed after a May conduct audit identified issues including personal use of a company vehicle and attendance problems. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs delivered the dismissal order to aT on the 29th, and Hong stepped down effective that day. The ministry’s audit office recommended the action to President Lee Jae-myung after reviewing Hong’s conduct and attendance records. Hong, a former four-term National Assembly member and former head of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, was appointed aT’s 20th president in August 2024 under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration. His tenure ended after about two years and one month, with roughly 11 months remaining in his three-year term. aT has moved to emergency management under Vice President Kim Chang-kook and will maintain that structure until a new president is appointed. Hong is considering legal action, according to the existing account.
