U.S. private-sector employers added 90,000 jobs in September, ADP reported, exceeding economists' forecast of 68,000 and rebounding after a three-month slowdown. Education and health care added 55,000 jobs, while leisure and hospitality gained 22,000, manufacturing added 17,000 and construction increased by 15,000. The report followed a downwardly revised 36,000-job gain in August and a 44,000 increase in July. Construction and manufacturing employers continue to face shortages of skilled labor as AI infrastructure projects increase demand for workers, contributing to stronger wage growth than in many other industries. ADP chief economist Dr. Nela Richardson said the pattern reflected structural demand for skilled trade workers and worker preferences over shift schedules, rather than evidence of a broader wage spiral.
