Samsung Electronics has introduced the Galaxy Tab S12 series, comprising the premium S12 Ultra and mid-tier S12+, while targeting higher price tiers ahead of expected Apple hardware announcements. The tablets feature a 3-nanometer processor, redesigned vapor-chamber cooling, a reported 61% increase in neural processing unit performance, Galaxy AI tools and up to 23 hours of continuous battery life. Samsung priced the S12 Ultra at $1,399 and the S12+ at $1,200, $100 more than their predecessors. Samsung Electronics in Taiwan announced the flagship series on October 1 as Taiwan tablet unit sales rose 7.5% year over year in the first eight months, supported by AI applications and demand for laptop alternatives. Retail availability begins October 7 in select global markets, including Japan, where both models will be sold at 9 a.m. as gray Wi-Fi-only devices. Samsung is also pledging seven generations of operating-system and security updates as it tests demand for higher-margin, AI-capable tablets amid softer replacement cycles.
