Morgan Stanley has established a Digital Asset Lab to evaluate blockchain-based tools, including DeFi vaults, stablecoins, tokenized deposits, central bank digital currencies and tokenized money-market funds. The lab allows employees to test experimental technology without linking it to the bank's core systems, extending Morgan Stanley's digital-asset work beyond crypto trading and investment products. Megan Brewer, head of innovation and labs, oversees the bank's innovation network, while Amy Oldenburg, who leads digital assets, has identified DeFi vaults as an area under review. The bank has not announced a client-facing DeFi vault product or launch date. Bloomberg reported the initiative on September 29.
