DogeOS has launched Chikyū, a public testnet for Ethereum-compatible smart contracts and consumer applications that use Dogecoin as the transaction-fee asset, aiming to broaden the token's use beyond payments and tipping. Built by the MyDoge wallet team, the zero-knowledge rollup supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine, enabling developers to adapt existing Ethereum applications with limited changes. Its documentation says data is stored on Ethereum while Dogecoin provides finality. Test DOGE is distributed through a faucet and has no value, meaning the testnet creates no immediate demand for the token. DOGE showed little price reaction after the Sept. 30 launch and remained below its late-September peak. Dogecoin exchange-traded funds recorded weekly inflows in late September, although Bitwise moved to close its Dogecoin ETF. DogeOS has not announced a mainnet timetable.
