Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said a security incident caused $388 million in user losses, while the exchange restored withdrawals for Bitcoin, ETH and USDT and plans to resume withdrawals for all tokens on Friday. Bitget’s protection fund, established in January 2022, has grown to $309 million and will absorb the financial impact, Chen said. The exchange has not ruled out involvement by insiders or North Korean hackers and has launched a bounty program offering separate 5% rewards for freezing and recovering funds. Wallets linked to the attack transferred about $3.8 million worth of ZEC to the Ironwood pool.
