Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov said AI agents will increasingly prioritize tokenized assets over traditional assets as software takes on more purchasing decisions. Speaking at Sibos 2026 in Miami, Nazarov said the model of humans manually clicking buttons to buy assets will gradually fade as AI seeks faster and more efficient solutions. He also said expanding agent activity will require infrastructure connecting traditional industries, AI systems and tokenized asset markets, with Chainlink infrastructure positioned to play a key role. Nazarov made the remarks during a Sibos 2026 panel with representatives from Microsoft and Parallax Ventures focused on AI-driven payments, programmable money and the future of value. The session, titled "Future of Value: Part Two, When Money Becomes Intelligent," formed part of an event themed "Digital finance for AI-driven economies." Sibos 2026 runs from September 28 to October 1 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, with more than 500 speakers across over 250 sessions. Nazarov was also scheduled to discuss global digital asset markets on September 28 and lead an October 1 workshop on the "Trust Layer for Interoperable Global Finance." Chainlink’s Ryan Lovell was scheduled to speak separately about AI’s role in keeping payment systems operating under extreme stress. Chainlink’s expanded presence follows its 2025 Sibos work on corporate actions standardization alongside DTCC and Swift. The company’s participation alongside Microsoft, Parallax Ventures, DTCC, Clearstream and IFC places tokenized assets and AI-driven payments within a major institutional finance setting, although conference appearances do not constitute signed deals or live production systems. Trust, data reliability and interoperability remain key issues if AI agents begin handling payments and digital asset activity at scale.
