The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank plans to broadly double annual financing to around €17.6 billion by 2030, President Zou Jiayi said at the bank's 11th annual meeting. The Beijing-based multilateral development bank will prioritize climate resilience, renewable energy, digital transformation, regional connectivity, nature conservation and people-centred development, while using modern technology and mobilizing private capital. AIIB approved €9.4 billion for 57 projects in 2025, with 71% supporting climate-positive outcomes, and mobilized €4.3 billion in private capital. Cooperation with other development banks remains central: 131 of its 303 approved projects had been co-financed with multilateral development banks by the end of 2024. Qatar, the host country and a founding member, reaffirmed its support, while the Qatar Fund for Development emphasized a shift from grants toward loans and investment that can help communities generate income. AIIB's next annual meeting will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, as demand for infrastructure financing remains in the trillions of dollars annually.
