Salesforce shares rose 1.85% to $229.47 on Wednesday as cooler-than-expected personal consumption expenditures (PCE) inflation data supported a broader recovery in technology and software stocks. The Bureau of Economic Analysis said the PCE price index increased 0.3% month over month in August, below the 0.4% economist consensus, while annual headline PCE inflation was 3.4%, below the 3.7% estimate. The data reduced expectations for higher interest rates, with CME FedWatch showing a 52.9% probability of rates remaining at 3.75%-4% on Oct. 28 and a 47.1% chance of a quarter-point increase. Salesforce had also announced Tuesday that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire AI customer research platform Listen Labs. Technically, the stock remained 7.2% above its 50-day SMA and nearly 20% above its 100-day SMA, with a September golden cross, though it was 4.6% below its 20-day SMA. Its RSI was 50.03, indicating neutral momentum. Resistance stood at $268.50, just below the 52-week high area of $269.11, while support was identified at $190.
