CollPlant Biotechnologies completed its acquisition of LightSolver in September 2026, expanding into high-performance computing and laser-based photonic computing alongside its regenerative-medicine business. LightSolver's Laser Processing Unit, or LPU (a photonic computing processor), is intended to operate as a computing layer alongside CPUs and GPUs. Research by LightSolver and Germany's High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, or HLRS (a scientific computing center), published in ACM proceedings showed projected time-to-solution acceleration of approximately 40 times to more than 80,000 times versus state-of-the-art GPU-based algorithms, depending on the benchmark and algorithm. CollPlant appointed LightSolver CEO and co-founder Dr. Ruti Ben Shlomi to its Board of Directors. The acquisition closed after June 30, so it was not reflected in the reported second-quarter or first-half financial results. Second-quarter revenue fell to $108,000 from $179,000 a year earlier, while six-month revenue dropped to $181,000 from $2.2 million, mainly because a $2.0 million development milestone payment recognized in 2025 did not recur. Second-quarter GAAP net loss narrowed to $2.7 million, or $1.89 per share, from $3.3 million, while the six-month loss widened to $5.8 million, or $4.13 per share. Cash and cash equivalents stood at $2.6 million on June 30. After the reporting date, CollPlant completed a $1.94 million private placement and received approximately $5.2 million from exercises of Series B warrants and pre-funded warrants. The company said it remains focused on developing its plant-derived recombinant human collagen, or rhCollagen (collagen made through plant-based biotechnology), platform for medical aesthetics and 3D bioprinting of tissues and organs, while pursuing strategic partnerships. Management cautioned that statements about LightSolver's integration, commercialization, market adoption, collaborations and future business are forward-looking and subject to technological, financial, regulatory, competitive, market and other risks.
