LG Energy Solution has signed a memorandum of understanding with U.S. electric commercial vehicle startup Indigo Technologies to supply 46-series nickel-manganese-cobalt cylindrical battery cells for its next-generation Flow Ride and Flow Cargo vehicles from 2027 through 2030. Named for their 46-millimeter diameter, the cells will support collaboration on vehicle-battery integration, driving range and charging performance. The agreement supports Indigo Technologies' development of electric vehicles for logistics, delivery and ride-hailing, while expanding LG Energy Solution's North American customer base and supply track record for 46-series batteries. The companies are working toward a final supply agreement. Indigo Technologies' Smart Wheels system integrates drive and suspension components into the wheels, while its Transportation-as-a-Service model combines vehicles, charging infrastructure and digital mobility services. LG Energy Solution also plans to begin operations this year at its cylindrical battery plant in Queen Creek, Arizona. Global Market Insights projects the global electric van market will grow from about $16.3 billion in 2024 to roughly $65.6 billion by 2034, a 15.5% average annual growth rate.
