Korean companies should deepen their U.S. operations as bilateral economic ties broaden from trade to investment, technology and supply-chain resilience, the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) said Wednesday. More than 300 government officials, business leaders and investment professionals attended the eighth annual Doing Business in the U.S. Seminar, hosted by AMCHAM and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at KCCI headquarters in Seoul. Speakers said companies expanding in the United States must plan for staffing, regulatory requirements and local partnerships alongside capital investment. Executives from SPC's Paris Croissant, Mirae Asset Securities and SK Biopharmaceuticals shared their U.S. expansion experience, while sessions covered corporate visas, real estate, cross-border financial services and human resources. AMCHAM Chairman James Kim said future ties would depend on how much the two countries build, invest, innovate and grow together. KCCI Executive Vice Chairman Kim Jeong-il stressed that Korean companies need a firm understanding of U.S. regulations and business conditions. U.S. Sen. Todd Young of Indiana pointed to SK hynix's more than $4 billion (5.4 trillion won) advanced packaging and research facility in West Lafayette as an example of Korean investment supporting U.S. jobs and innovation. The seminar, held under a special program marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, has connected Korean companies with U.S. policymakers, experts and potential partners for eight years. AMCHAM said it will continue supporting Korean companies establishing and expanding operations in the United States.
