LS Electric has secured a 180 billion-won (US$133 million) contract to supply 345-kilovolt ultra-high-voltage transformers for a hyperscale artificial intelligence data center project being developed by an unidentified major U.S. technology company. The project is scheduled for completion by 2030 and includes large-scale AI data centers and related power-generation and transmission infrastructure, with deliveries planned in phases to nine substations. LS Electric said North American investment in power infrastructure is increasing as AI and cloud-computing demand drives electricity consumption. The U.S. data center power-infrastructure market is projected to expand at an average annual rate of 16 percent, from 13 trillion won in 2025 to 56 trillion won in 2035. A company official said the contract is expected to support further deals in North America.
