SPH Media chief executive Chan Yeng Kit became executive chairman of SPH Media Trust (SMT) and SPH Media Holdings (SPHMH) on Oct 1, succeeding Khaw Boon Wan after five years at the helm. Deputy chief executive Kuek Yu Chuang became managing director, while four new SPHMH directors joined the board as part of its renewal. Khaw, 73, was appointed chairman in May 2021 after Singapore Press Holdings separated its media operations into a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Minister Josephine Teo and Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow praised Khaw for guiding SPH Media through the restructuring and a period of rapid change in news consumption. Under his leadership, the organisation expanded its digital and multimedia capabilities, reached new audiences and strengthened its footing for future development. SPH Media reaches close to nine in 10 Singaporeans weekly through more than 120 channels and is exploring generative and agentic AI while maintaining its focus on trusted journalism.
