Taiwan’s TAIEX rose 413 points, or 0.9%, to close at a fresh record high of 48,353 on Thursday, extending gains from the previous session. Electronic technology, technology services, communication and distribution services led the advance, while data showing Taiwan’s factory activity grew at its fastest pace since August 2021 further supported sentiment. TSMC gained 1.2% and accounts for more than 40% of the market’s total value. MediaTek also rose 1.2%, while Delta Electronics, Hon Hai Precision and ASE Technology advanced, and United Microelectronics climbed 4.5%. Gains were tempered by a weak Wall Street session and rising oil prices as traders awaited U.S. jobs data for signals on the Federal Reserve’s next monetary policy decision.
