El Al canceled rescue flights scheduled for October 2 to bring Israelis home from Dubai after the United Arab Emirates withdrew landing permits for Israeli carriers. The airline said it remained ready to operate charter flights once approval was restored, while flights scheduled for the following Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday remained listed but fully booked. The cancellations followed flydubai’s suspension of Tel Aviv service after its co-pilot stabbed the captain aboard Flight FZ1073; passengers and crew restrained him before the aircraft made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Israeli carriers had also sought approval to resume regular services, but the reasons for the withdrawn permits remained unexplained.
