National Fuel Gas Company completed its $2.62 billion acquisition of CenterPoint Energy’s Ohio natural gas utility business, Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio, LLC, on Oct. 1, 2026, after required federal and state approvals, including review by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. The utility, to be renamed National Fuel Gas Distribution of Ohio, LLC, serves approximately 335,000 metered customers across 16 counties in West Central Ohio, including the Dayton and greater Miami Valley region, through about 5,900 miles of transmission and distribution pipelines. The deal doubles National Fuel’s utility rate base and lifts its utility customer base to approximately 1.1 million, with about 200 employees joining the company. CenterPoint said the proceeds will support a 10-year, $66.7 billion capital program focused on electric and natural gas infrastructure, reliability, resilience and growth across its remaining operations in Texas, Indiana and Minnesota. CenterPoint now serves nearly 7 million metered customers and reported approximately $48.3 billion of assets as of June 30, 2026, with about 8,800 employees.
