BYD Company Limited sold 463,561 vehicles globally in September, its strongest monthly result of 2026, though year-over-year growth slowed to 17% as demand weakened in China's auto market. The increase followed growth of 18% in August and 22% in July. Overseas passenger-vehicle and pickup shipments surged 153.9% to 179,877 units, accounting for just under 40% of the monthly total. BYD sold 3,131,576 vehicles in the first nine months of 2026, including 1,337,831 overseas shipments, but that cumulative figure was 4% below the comparable 2025 period and left the company well short of its full-year target of 5 million to 5.5 million vehicles. Domestic sales continued to decline as reduced government EV incentives, a prolonged real-estate downturn and intensifying competition weighed on demand. BYD's overseas expansion has supported profitability, with second-quarter net profit rising 30% to 8.2 billion yuan ($1.22 billion), while first-half exports increased 71% to more than 790,000 vehicles. The company is expanding its European manufacturing footprint and has set a target of more than 2.5 million overseas shipments in 2027.
