Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade is scheduled to activate on the Sepolia testnet on Oct. 6 at 13:53:36 UTC, testing a 200 million gas preference that could fit more computation into each block without accelerating block times. Prysm 7.2.0 and Teku 26.9.1 support the upgrade but retain a 60 million gas preference unless validators explicitly opt in. Enabled by EIP-8261, the schedule coordinates recommended preferences at specified epochs without changing consensus-validity rules, so Sepolia’s gas limit will rise progressively as validators propose blocks rather than jumping immediately. Glamsterdam combines the Amsterdam execution upgrade with Gloas on the consensus layer and introduces enshrined proposer-builder separation and block-level access lists. As the technical test approaches, ETH is trading near $2,729 after reaching $2,746 intraday, with buyers testing $2,750-$2,800 resistance; U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs attracted about $690 million from Sept. 21-25, and Citi raised its 12-month forecast from $2,240 to $3,028. Fusaka’s 16.7 million gas cap still limits individual transactions, while Hoodi and mainnet activation dates remain undecided.
