Ernexa Therapeutics appointed Robert J. Spiegel, M.D., FACP, to its Board of Directors as the company prepares to move lead program ERNA-101 into clinical development. Spiegel brings oncology, clinical development, regulatory strategy and pharmaceutical leadership experience, including more than 25 years at Schering-Plough Research Institute, where he ultimately served as Chief Medical Officer. ERNA-101 uses tumor-homing induced mesenchymal stem cells (iMSCs) to deliver immune-enhancing cytokines into the tumor microenvironment and is initially aimed at platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. Ernexa has completed IND-enabling preclinical studies, has clinical-grade manufacturing underway and is targeting an IND (regulatory application to begin human trials) submission in the fourth quarter of 2026, followed by a first-in-human study in the first quarter of 2027. In an ovarian cancer model, the therapy combined with anti-PD-1 treatment produced complete tumor clearance and 100% survival. The company is also advancing ERNA-102 and ERNA-103, while its forward-looking statements identify expected clinical data in the fourth quarter of 2027 and risks tied to development, financing, regulation and competition.
