The Sui Foundation and Mysten Labs are collaborating with OpenAssets to implement the Open Tokenized Asset Standard, or OTAS, across the Sui ecosystem. Announced on October 1, 2026, the initiative aims to establish shared, neutral and auditable interfaces for identity, compliance, asset metadata and settlement without favoring a particular blockchain. OTAS is designed to make compliance records and ownership histories portable between networks and institutions, addressing the fragmented systems used by different ledgers and financial firms. The collaboration follows the Sui Foundation's September 24, 2026, membership in the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust, where the project is being developed. Sui and Mysten Labs were also early sponsors of the effort. Sui's existing tokenized asset modules and Permissioned Asset Standard support programmable compliance and fractional ownership, while its high-throughput, object-centric architecture treats each asset as a distinct object that can carry rules, metadata and ownership history.
