The Sweat Foundation Ltd said Sweat Wallet and the SWEAT token will end in their present form on December 30, 2026, while the app, token and smart contracts (self-executing blockchain code) will continue operating until then. Users will keep earning as long as Sweatcoin supplies movement verification data. The Foundation cited a prolonged crypto-market downturn, lost exchange listings for SWEAT, the cost of an April 2026 security incident after all user balances were restored, and slower user growth. The current model brought more than 22 million people into Web3 but did not reach sustainable profitability. The Foundation is providing 90 days’ notice, longer than the 14 days allowed under its terms. After December 30, the SWEAT token will continue to exist on NEAR and bridged EVM chains. Once the Foundation closes the claim and Grow Jar contracts, unclaimed SWEAT and Grow Jar balances, with yield calculated as of December 30, will be sent to the owning NEAR account. The Foundation plans to explain the post-December 30 arrangements during the first week of December 2026. Sweatcoin, operated separately by Sweatco Ltd, will continue operating normally. The Foundation also notified the Central Bank of Ireland under MiCA (European Union crypto-asset rules) about a modified SWEAT white paper, due for publication on October 12, 2026.
