Temasek has no concerns about major technology companies’ substantial spending on artificial-intelligence infrastructure, saying the companies involved believe their investments can generate risk-adjusted returns as adoption expands. Jane Atherton, Temasek’s North America head, made the comments at the Reuters Investment USA event in Boston. Analysts forecast hyperscaler capital expenditure will exceed $1 trillion by 2027, primarily for chips and data centers. Temasek, which owns stakes in Anthropic and OpenAI, plans to increase AI-related investments to as much as 15% of its roughly $400 billion portfolio over the next five years, from about 6% currently. Atherton also said governments and technology developers must address AI safety.
