OpenZeppelin and the T-REX Network have rebuilt ONCHAINID, the identity infrastructure supporting ERC-3643 permissioned tokens, around modular smart accounts. The redesign preserves ONCHAINID’s role of recording cryptographic keys and verified claims so token contracts can determine whether a wallet is eligible to hold an asset, while moving signature validation, claims, recovery and transaction execution into installable modules. The earlier design allowed identities to hold tokens and interact with contracts through an execute-and-approve flow; ONCHAINID v3 separates that flow into a module and replaces the monolithic identity contract with a modular account. The initiative forms part of a broader partnership announced on July 7, 2026, covering security, modularity and on-chain identity management. OpenZeppelin is advising on architecture, conducting code reviews and auditing ONCHAINID v3, which is also described as a modular ERC-7579 smart account incorporating ERC-4337 account abstraction and support for additional signers. The associated audit report was published on September 29, 2026. The wider T-REX Ledger, being built with Polygon CDK, is designed to apply permissioned transfer logic and jurisdiction-specific eligibility across networks and is expected to launch on mainnet by Q4 2026. More than $32 billion in assets have been tokenized under ERC-3643 across over 20 jurisdictions, with more than 140 institutions supporting the standard. Apex Group, which manages around $3.5 trillion in assets, aims to tokenize up to $100 billion by June 2027.
