Airbus staff in Spain voted to support a preliminary agreement aimed at ending months of intermittent strike action, unions said on Thursday. The proposal includes compensation for purchasing power lost to inflation, inflation-linked wage increases, greater holiday flexibility and a return to 40% remote working. Some 87% of the workforce took part in the referendum on the deal reached with unions on September 4; 20.26% voted against it and 2.98% abstained. Airbus declined to comment, saying it did not yet have official information. The strikes began in July over pay increases below inflation, tighter attendance monitoring and requirements for office staff to spend more time on site. Workers rejected an initial offer in late August, leading them to resume industrial action. Airbus employs around 14,500 people across eight Spanish sites that produce military transport aircraft, commercial-aircraft parts and satellites.
