US stocks ended mostly higher Thursday after a halt in the Treasury selloff helped reverse earlier losses. The S&P 500 rose 0.2%, the Nasdaq gained 0.3% and the Dow finished near flat. Ten-year Treasury yields declined from their highest level since 2002, as investors unwound crowded positions. Treasuries also advanced after Fed Vice Chair Philip Jefferson said more time may be needed to determine whether further rate hikes are necessary. The bond-market pause provided some support to credit-sensitive stocks, while chipmakers mostly gained despite facing record levels of debt issuance. Nvidia rose 1.1%, AMD added 0.6% and Micron climbed 3% after issuing an upbeat current-quarter forecast following strong fiscal fourth-quarter results. Global yields had previously extended a months-long advance as higher oil prices intensified inflation concerns and strengthened expectations for additional central-bank rate increases.
