HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a main project contract with Taean Wind Power Co., Ltd. to engineer, procure, fabricate, install and commission an offshore substation for a 500-megawatt-class wind project near Gaeuido-ri in Taean County. Taean Wind Power is a joint venture between Singapore-based renewable energy company Vena Energy, Danish investment and development firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Korea Western Power. The agreement follows a preliminary design contract in March and a preferred supply contract in July. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said it completed basic design verification for its independently developed 500MW-class offshore substation model through Norway’s DNV in 2025 and detailed design verification in August, becoming the first domestic offshore substation project recognized as complying with international regulations and standards.
