Samfara, a London-based European life sciences investment firm, has completed the acquisition of Chr. Olesen Synthesis from Chr. Olesen and funds managed by Signet Healthcare Partners. The transaction, Samfara’s first investment, is backed by a consortium of institutional investors and family offices from Europe and North America; financial terms were not disclosed. Based near Copenhagen, Chr. Olesen Synthesis develops and manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients, or APIs (drug substances used in medicines), and advanced intermediates, with a focus on controlled substances including buprenorphine for opioid-use disorder and lisdexamfetamine for ADHD. Its cGMP-certified facility (meeting pharmaceutical manufacturing standards) has operated commercially since 2015 and supplies pharmaceutical companies across Europe, North America and the Middle East. CEO Thomas Moestrup is investing alongside Samfara, while Jean-François Hilaire will become chairman of the company’s board. Samfara said it plans to support the company’s capabilities, customer and product portfolio, and expansion into new markets through organic growth and acquisitions.
