Wall Street banks are expanding recruitment for AI agent, orchestration and governance roles as they move beyond standalone chatbots toward multi-agent systems for operational workflows. AI-related listings at JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Capital One rose 49% from 2025 to 139,819 this year, Draup data shared with CNBC showed. Postings mentioning agent orchestration climbed 1,721%, while references to LangGraph, LlamaIndex and retrieval-augmented generation also increased sharply. Banks are hiring forward-deployed engineers to apply AI in trading, compliance and back-office functions, combining technical expertise with knowledge of the business area. Governance-oriented skill mentions surpassed 16,000, about twice the roughly 8,400 postings focused on building, deploying and maintaining models, as firms seek to manage regulatory, security and third-party technology risks. Generative AI managers earn a median base salary of about $190,000, but banks continue to face hiring challenges and are reskilling internal developers and domain experts. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has described "huge redeployment plans" as AI takes on more work.
