Tesla and SpaceX collectively hold 30,221 Bitcoin, according to Tesla securities filings, SpaceX registration documents and on-chain data, with neither company reporting a purchase or sale since the balances were last established. Tesla’s Arkham-labelled wallets currently hold Bitcoin valued at $997.05 million, representing the remaining balance from its initial $1.5 billion purchase in early 2021. On-chain activity shows those wallets have remained dormant since 2022, when Tesla sold a large portion of its position. Tesla reported 11,509 Bitcoin at a $386 million cost basis, while SpaceX reported 18,712 Bitcoin at a $661 million cost basis, for a combined basis of about $1.05 billion. Tesla’s filings and SpaceX’s public registration materials show that dollar values changed with Bitcoin prices and fair-value accounting rather than disposals. The holdings belong to the companies, not Elon Musk personally, and public filings disclose no personal Bitcoin balance for Musk or Bitcoin held by xAI or The Boring Company.
