Neuromod Devices has appointed Joe Ghiz as chief commercial officer and Shannon Basham as vice president of channel development as the medical-technology company works to broaden access to Lenire, its noninvasive bimodal neuromodulation device for tinnitus. Ghiz joins Neuromod’s leadership team to oversee global commercial operations. He previously held international leadership roles at Align Technology, the company behind Invisalign, and spent more than 10 years at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. Neuromod CEO Dr. Ross O’Neill said strong clinical evidence, regulatory approvals worldwide and broad commercial adoption had positioned the company to expand rapidly and address the needs of 740 million people worldwide with tinnitus. Ghiz said Lenire had already changed the lives of tens of thousands of patients and that expanding its reach through more healthcare professionals could give millions of patients access to treatment. Basham brings more than 20 years of hearing-care experience and most recently served as senior director of audiology at Sonova in the United States. She previously spent a decade as Phonak’s director of clinical training and earlier worked at InSound Medical, helping launch and expand the Lyric hearing aid before Sonova acquired InSound. Lenire combines sound stimulation with stimulation of the tongue’s surface through the proprietary Tonguetip device. A qualified healthcare professional, such as an ear, nose and throat specialist or audiologist, prescribes it after a comprehensive audiological assessment, with patients carrying out treatment at home. Lenire has CE-mark certification and is the first and only bimodal neuromodulation therapy to receive a De Novo authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It is available in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia, including as a treatment option through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
