Argentina plans to open applications for its citizenship-by-investment program before the end of 2026, offering wealthy foreigners a choice between a nonrefundable $350,000 contribution to the Treasury and an $800,000 government bond held for seven years. Economy Minister Luis Caputo unveiled the proposal in Paris as President Javier Milei's government seeks fresh dollar sources while facing nearly $25 billion in foreign-currency debt payments in 2027. Officials said a family of four would pay $500,000 under the contribution route, while an investment-firm consortium estimated the program could raise as much as $2.5 billion. Argentina would become the first South American country with an active citizenship-for-investment program, and Caputo said applicants would face identity, criminal-record and source-of-funds screening.
