Italy is seeking clarification over rumors that European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde could leave her post early, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said on Friday. Speaking at a press conference on the Treasury’s new multi-year budget plan, Giorgetti said he could not know what was in Lagarde’s mind but believed the issue should be clarified. He added that Rome currently had no candidate to promote for the top ECB position.
