Micron benefited from demand for memory and storage chips used in AI data centers supporting OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude and other services. In its Q4 report on Wednesday, the company posted earnings per share of $33.42, up 1,002% from $3.03 in the same quarter last year, while revenue climbed 379% to $54.23 billion from $11.31 billion in Q4 2025. CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said physical AI (AI embedded in machines), including autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots, could create an additional source of demand. He said level 4 and higher autonomous vehicles typically contain more than 200 gigabytes of memory and multiple terabytes of storage. Companies developing humanoid robots include Tesla, Figure, Hyundai's Boston Dynamics, Unitree Robotics and Agility Robotics, although Reuters reported that only 7,000 humanoid robots were sold globally in 2025 for industrial and professional services.
